The Vielluz Civil War (1916 - 1919)
On the night of 17 July 1916, the Viellian army, inspired most of all by General Vollasky, started the Civil War by rebelling against the Second Republic. A central goal of these rebels was the destruction of left-wing organisations.
There were however a number of issues that directly led to the outbreak of the Vielluz Civil War. The greatest of these was the long period of decline that Vielluz had suffered since the days of the its Empire. By 1909 the country had lost all of her empire and was lagging behind the rest of Vielluz industrially.
The monarchy was overthrown and the Second Empire formed in 1911. This government proved to be completely inept at carrying out reforms and maintaining law and order.
Divisions continued to widen between the towns and the countryside and the wealthy landowners and peasants. Many areas of the country wanted to have their own government and wanted independence from the rest of Vielluz.
